Only Watch 2015: An exceptional Pierre Arpels Heure d’ici & Heure d’ailleurs timepiece for Only Watch 2015
For the sixth edition of the Only Watch charity auction, Van Cleef & Arpels has once again responded to an appeal by the Association Monégasque contre les Myopathies (Monaco Association against Muscular Dystrophy).
For the occasion, the Maison has created a unique piece, born of the excellence of its craftsmanship and its Poetry of Time™ philosophy. From the Pierre Arpels Heure d’ici & Heure d’ailleurs collection, this watch illustrates its vision of travel while at the same time evoking, through a specific aesthetic, its lasting ties with Monaco.
Supporting research into Duchenne Muscular Dystrophy, the Only Watch 2015 event will be held in Geneva on November 7, a preview of the week of watch sales that brings together numerous collectors and enthusiasts. The auction will be orchestrated by the new watch department of Phillips, in collaboration with auctioneer and renowned expert Aurel Bacs. The proceeds will go to 15 scientific partners, with a total of 90 researchers and clinicians based in five different countries.
First, the collection will tour the world, visiting the Monaco Yacht Show September 23-26, 2015 before being presented in Europe, the United States and Asia.
Assemblage des disques des heures sautantes
For this edition of Only Watch, Van Cleef & Arpels has created a masculine complication piece with dual time zone that invites us on a journey and exalts the colors of Monaco. In homage to the Principality, the dial displays a radiant Mediterranean blue while the elegant calligraphy evokes the white foam on the crest of the waves.
Fitted with a self-winding movement with double jumping hour and retrograde minutes, this creation celebrates both the beauty of the moment and the promise of distant horizons. As his journeys progress, the traveler thus captures the here and now, without forgetting the time in his heart.
The back of the piece allows a continuation of this journey into the heart of the movement, visible through a sapphire crystal. In order to preserve the slimness of the case, emblematic of the Pierre Arpels collection, it is equipped with a platinum micro-rotor, remarkable for its small volume. Covered with a piqué decoration, it recalls the movement of the waves with its regular oscillation. The Van Cleef & Arpels hallmark and signature engraved on the gold of the case stamp their seal on the excellence of the finishes.
In the tradition of Van Cleef & Arpels’ watchmaking complications, this Pierre Arpels Heure d’ici & Heure d’ailleurs watch reflects the Maison’s creativity and narrative poetry, as well as its dedication to the values of generosity and sharing.
